Free eBook: “Practicing the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence

Hmmm. Are the best things in life free? 

In Day 11 of Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life,” he mentions a 450 year old text by a cook in a French monastery. This book, “Practicing the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence, is available for a reasonable price at Amazon.com, but I thought that– at over 4 centuries old, surely this text is out of copyright?

It turns out this book is available as a free download from Project Gutenburg, although the shared version is still under copyright by the most recent editor.

A relatively short read (just 23 pages when printed), Brother Lawrence focuses on making the daily and routine tasks of the day opportunities to bring God glory and focus on his will for our lives.

Rich Vincent has a good blog posting providing detail, insights, and reflections on “Practicing the Presence of God” that is worth checking out also.
