Major Milestone: Authenticated iMovies Online!

posted in digitalstorytelling, edtech |
Originally posted to another blog in March 2004, I have moved this posting with its accompanying links here.

I have wanted to learn how to do this for some time and finally succeeded today: I setup a configuration for students in our college to post their exported iMovies to our QuickTime streaming server, into a folder that requires a common userid/password to view their movies. This will assist in helping protect the privacy of students who were videotaped as part of this project.

I have a sample movie posted online, and the instructions (minus login credentials) are also available.

Of course without the username and password, you can’t view the movie! (The content is not approved for public release so that is why the password is required.) You can still get a feel for how this works, however.

On this day..
