Skype is revolutionary, potentially disruptive technology for educational settings that teachers can ill afford to ignore. Skype makes internet based telephony a point and click process. The skype voice conversations that I have witnessed and participated in have had remarkable quality, comparatively better than the audio-conferencing features built into iChat AV (which runs only on Mac systems.) In contrast, Skype is cross-platform.
This PC World article from June 2005 indicates that videoconferencing via Skype is under development and on the way.
