The concept of RSS feeds is an essential topic for every educator. Will Richardson has a great 11 page “RSS QuickStart for Educators” (downloadable PDF) that can be used as a workshop resource, along with a great list of helpful RSS links:
The RSS Mix website (www.rssmix.com) looks like a super resource for combining multiple RSS feeds. Last week I tried with limited success using blogseive, I am hoping I’ll have more luck with RSS Mix. The blogseive feed I created didn’t seem to work with all the podcast feeds I was trying to combine. For some reason the descriptions of my podcasts were truncated.
This new attempt using RSS Mix (http://www.rssmix.com/u/4912/rss.xml) does not truncate the feeds, as blogsieve did, but it does not include enough links or make them podcast friendly/subscribable. So I am still searching for a RSS feed parser / combiner that will work for podcast feeds.
I also have these podcasts listed as a social bookmarks page and feed, which are part of the Podcasting101 workshop and Moodle website I am offering for the first time this Friday morning.
Thanks to Bob Sprankle in his “Bit by Bit” podcast for leading me to Will Richardson’s RSS resources!
