Feedvalidator (www.feedvalidator.org) is a useful, free tool for helping troubleshoot problems with a blog or podcast feed.
Using this for my feedburner podcast subscription URL (http://feeds.feedburner.com/speedofcreativity/podcasts), I learned that it is not “best practice” / recommended to either:
- include HTML code in the subtitle
- include HTML code in the summary
I am wondering how to include links in the shownotes, if I shouldn’t include links? Maybe newer iterations of RSS and ATOM will permit this. For now I think I may avoid links in the subtitle (the text that comes before the mp3 / podcast direct link) but continue to use them in the summary / show notes section that follows the direct audio link.
If anyone has other ideas or recommendations on this I would be interested in reading them. Tim Wilson is now publishing his shownotes as “lyrics” that are readable directly on newer iPods like the iPod Nano. I haven’t looked into that yet but it sounds like a straightforward way to include additional content within the podcast.
