Shirley Boyd, an Instructional Technology Consultant for Killeen ISD in Texas, emailed me the URL this week for their district’s 2005 digital storytelling film festival.
The K-2 category winning film, “The Lion and the Mouse,” is great. It actually could be published as an enhanced podcast too, since they primarily use still images of stick puppets for the animation.
The grade 9-12 film, “What Makes a Good Teacher?” suggests some basic themes that should be no-brainers for everyone, but don’t seem to be in our current culture of high stakes testing. This movie reminded me of the “Teacher Impact Stories” podcast I published last Saturday. Their identified qualities include:
- organization
- a friend
- a good listener
- caring
- empathetic
patience
Congrats to the students and teachers of Killeen for putting on what was clearly a big success!
