Hey Wes,

Great Podcast. Bernie D. gave me this link, and I have heard Dave T. speak before at CUE out here in California. I am interested in his words about Linux. Thanks for the resources. I just subscribed to your RSS feeds.

I just spent the afternoon listening to David Thornburg. After listening to this podcast I felt like I was part of the TECA conference. One of my former students lives and loves Linux. He has tried to get me to give it a shot. After listening to David where he suggested I take an older computer and put linux on it to just play. I am going to have my student boot my old mac in Linux and I'll give it a try.
Thanks again for making this available, I have learned so much.

Thanks both to Wes for posting this (and DT for his permission!) and to Miguel for assembling Download a la Mode. We may be only pulling at taffy sometimes but at least we can chew on it too! My next step is to propagate David's presentation throught my district (and beyond) and then setup a "March of the Penguins" tech symposium up here! Time to start thinking big...

I am amazed that there are still schools and universities that require or recommend MS Office. OpenOffice.org is such a good choice for everyone, but in particular for people and organizations where learning is promoted as the primary goal, with emphasis on openness to new ideas.

Thanks for posting this.
