Podcast with ProfCast

posted in apple, podcasting |

ProfCast is an inexpensive ($35) Macintosh shareware program that allows you to directly record audio narration with a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation and post it to the web as an enhanced podcast.

This looks like a VERY cool tool. The Getting Started Guide makes it appear to be, as most good Macintosh software tools are, pretty straightforward and simple to use. There are not any links I could find to sample podcasts created with ProfCast, however. If you know of a link to a ProfCast-created enhanced podcast, please let me know by commenting here.

On the Windows side, the most robust tool I’ve seen for creating online narrated PowerPoint presentations is Articulate Presenter. George Siemens’ Connectivism presentation I have blogged about previously is a good example of how articulate presenter can be used effectively. I really like how it shows how much time you have remaining in the entire presentation and on each slide. Camtasia Studio also lets you create narrated PowerPoint presentations for online sharing.

As far as I know, there are not any software tools available for making enhanced podcasts on the Windows side. People can make audio-only podcasts and video podcasts from Windows computers, but not enhanced podcasts. If I am wrong (which is definitely possible on this and many other issues) please let me know and share a link!

I’ll likely give ProfCast a try sometime in the upcoming weeks, maybe in advance of my next presentation scheduled for April 3rd in Fort Worth. Thanks to Bob Goeman and Paul Clark of UNO-COE for telling me about ProfCast!

On this day..
