Will Richardson’s new book, “Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms,” is available for order from Amazon.com.
Sure, you can read (and should be reading) Will’s blog regularly, but many teachers (myself included) still prefer curling up with a book in the evening to read rather than a laptop!
Will’s perspective on web 2.0 technology tools is exactly on target: These are tools that can be used powerfully to empower students to develop literacy skills essential in the 21st century. Such use won’t happen spontaneously in classrooms, however, it will take informed educators willing to take risks and try new educational strategies to help these potentials become realities. By reading Will’s book, discussing it with other teachers and trying some of the suggested strategies with your own students, you can likely engage your students to a greater degree and have more FUN teaching and learning with your kids. Shouldn’t that be a goal in all of our classrooms?
