Commenting added to iWeb!
posted in apple |An updated version of iWeb (version 1.1) is available as a free software update from Apple for current owners/licencees of iLife06. From the Apple menu in the upper left corner of your computer screen, just choose SOFTWARE UPDATE to get it. Apple has a nice tutorial website about new features in iWeb 1.1. The five main updates are:
- Letting users comment on your blog
- Letting users search your site
- Adding entire photo albums instantly
- Some publishing & performance improvements
- Some theme & template improvements
The commenting features are DEFINITELY the biggest improvement in my mind, but the site publishing features are great too. To add commenting in iWeb, click on the SITE INSPECTOR and click the RSS button (third one at the top.) Then click the checkbox to ALLOW COMMENTS. Attachments can also be permitted if desired, I did not choose to enable that option. I also chose to add a site search feature, which is nice. Instead of republishing your entire iWeb site, you now have the option to just publish changes after you click the PUBLISH button.
I have updated my own iWeb site (where I host my enhanced podcasts) and added commenting. So, if you have listened and viewed any of these podcasts in the past, or want to now, you can now directly comment there on the iWeb site! ![]()
I am wondering if there is a way to subscribe to an iWeb site’s comments? Hopefully there is, but I haven’t figured that out yet. I also wish it was possible to seamlessly use a feedburner-burned RSS feed instead of the automatically created iWeb RSS feed. That option may not be forthcoming from Apple, but we’ll see.
