A variety of webcasts from NECC 2006 last week in San Diego are available online. Hopefully all these videos are in post-production to be included in the site’s video podcast feed. (There is just one video posted there now.)
I had to reinstall Windows Media Player and use the Firefox web browser instead of Safari on my Macbook to view the videos, but at least it is working. I think it would have been better if these webcasts were published in a more accessible video format, like Flash or QuickTime. It is GREAT to see NECC leading the way by providing this type of conference video content, however. Accessibility and open web standards are issues that will continue to be contentious in the months and years to come, I think. Open standards for content is one of the banners we should all be carrying forward into the future as evangelists for engaged learning with technology.
I think all conferences should provide this sort of digital archival for sessions, at least for the keynotes and spotlight sessions. Good job NECC!
