Creative Educator magazine

posted in digitalstorytelling, edtech |

In my phone conversation with my wife this morning, she mentioned a great new magazine arrived at our house yesterday, “The Creative Educator.” This is a publication of the very creative and innovative folks over at Tech4Learning, who make wonderful products that inspire creativity like The Clay Animation Kit and Frames, which is a Mac/Windows compatible program for creating stop-frame animations.

“The Creative Educator,” as one might expect if you’re familiar with Tech4Learning and the pedagogical perspective their developers come from (they descended from the original makers of HyperStudio, which originated with HyperCard) emphasizes constructivist and project-based learning. The lead article for this initial edition is available online, and titled “Clay Animation SpecTECHular: Engage and Inspire with Hands-on Curriculum Projects.”

Creating curriculum projects or just plain FUN projects with clay animation can be engaging stuff. On their Recipies4Success website, you can find a wealth of lesson plans relating to the Clay Animation kit and other products, grade levels, subject areas and keywords.

If you want to get more creative with your teaching, “The Creative Educator” looks like a great place to go for inspiration! And, my wife was quick to point out there’s an article by Cheryl Oakes in the first edition. If Cheryl is contributing, you know the content is bound to be great! :-)

On this day..
