This podcast features an interview from the exhibit hall of TCEA 2007. I interviewed two of the representatives of Pasco, a company which manufactures over sixty different types of sensors and probeware for use in digitally-enhanced scientific experiments. These devices can feed data to Palms as well as Windows or Macintosh computers, and permit students to gather complex, precise data from an open ended set of experiments. This data is not just limited to basic things like temperature and pressure, but can include results from accelerometers and GPS units! Connections to Google Earth Plus are possible, and students can even graph the flight of a nerf football using a bluetooth-enabled accelerometer! This is powerful and cool stuff, just the sort of things we should be putting into the hands of tomorrow’s engineers and research scientists!
