I feel like such a goof sometimes when I’m traveling. I remember when I first started camping each month with my scout troop growing up, I’d use a checklist to make sure I had everything I needed for a weekend campout. Maybe I should go back to using a checklist! It seems the faster I pack, the more likely it is that I’ll forget something.
Last fall I made a trip where I forgot to bring extra socks. About a month ago when I spent 3 days in Enid for our “Oklahoma Digital Centennial” project’s initial facilitator training academy I forgot all my bathroom supplies and had to use the hotel’s provided freebees and then buy replacements at WalGreens. This week for METC and MACE, I forgot to bring all my ties! Thankfully I brought a couple of shirts that will look ok and not require ties, and when I’m at MACE Thurs and Fri I’ll be staying with my parents in Manhattan— so I’ll borrow ties from my dad! My pre-con workshop on podcasting (which I’m co-teaching with Karen Montgomery) is today, and my 2 other conference presos for METC aren’t till Wednesday. So maybe I’ll buy a Missouri themed tie before Wednesday!
Rushed packing leads to mistakes. I think I need to do a failure bow!
