95 Theses for New Millennium Learning

posted in politics, schoolreform |

According to the current WikiPedia:

The Disputation of Martin Luther on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences, known as the 95 Theses, (from 31 October 1517) challenged the teachings of the Church on the nature of penance, the authority of the pope and the usefulness of indulgences. They sparked a theological debate that would result in the Reformation and the birth of the Lutheran, Reformed, and Anabaptist traditions within Christianity.

Whatever your own religious background and beliefs, it is a historical fact the 95 Theses represented a significant shift in paradigms of belief and behavior in Western Europe and other parts of the world. In order to change the prevailing paradigms of formal education, both within the United States and elsewhere in the world (if individuals choose to do so exercising their own rights to self-determination,) I propose we collectively author and present to our respective governmental organizations a document I have titled “95 Theses for New Millennium Learning.” At present, the “Declaration of Intent and Purpose” reads as follows:

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for a new generation of learners to transform the traditional paradigm of School which has defined formal instruction for centuries, and to exercise among the rights of free speech granted them by the laws of nature and nature’s God, their intention to establish new paradigms of formal education which respect both the natural psychologies of learning as well as markedly changed conditions in the information and technological landscape, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires they should declare the causes which impel them to make this declaration.

Out of love for the truth and the desire to bring it to light, as well as our abiding need as a society to provide educational opportunities for all learners which exceed common expectations, the following propositions will be discussed online via this wiki site and presented to formal governmental organizations at such a date and time as the community of international contributors deem appropriate. Wherefore we request that those who are unable to be present and debate orally with us at such a date and time as is announced here, may do so by comments and edits to this electronic document.

Please contribute your own thoughts and ideas to this project.
