Even my almost highschool aged son contacts friends through Neopets--in fact he'll talk to them there before he'll bother to pick up the phone. Hopefully people (young and old) will migrate to social networking environments like Facebook which are much less "in your face" as well as borderline inappropriate with advertising. I agree that Myspace is the least engaging though it remains the most popular. The real value of social networks is the people on them more so than the platform. Classroom 2.0 is more fun for me because I have friends there who I respect and who influence my teaching but to my sixteen year old sister Myspace is the place to go to talk with friends.
