www.motionbased.com is a website I use for mountain biking and training, but it could be used to investigate a geocash with “bits” before investigating it with “atoms.” Using the site to see the track you made finding of the geocash on Google Earth could also be interesting. The site functions to put waypoints and tracks into Google Earth from your GPS. Another program from http://topofusion.com/ has a similar function, but puts waypoints and tracks onto images gotten from the Microsoft Terra Server. I use both of these to check out trails before and after I ride them. http://www.geoladders.com/overview.php is another fun site to use with a GPS.

Glad to read that you have started Geocaching! My kids (10 and 5) and I have been caching since 2004. I have also geocached with my 4th grade class. We hunt caches that I place around the school grounds. I also start travel bugs each year with my class. We study the United States in 4th grade social studies and by using travel bugs, the students are able to follow their bugs as they move around the country. Each time they move to a new place, the kids look at the area using Google Earth. They are then able to look up the city and state online to get an idea of what it is like in that part of the country.

Thanks for the tip Diane, I'll encrypt log entries just when/if I share a spoiler in the future!

Nicely done. Fun, innit? Just a word of advice, people typically only "encrypt" their cache log if they post a spoiler in it, and even then, they just encrypt the spoiler part. My first finds were super close to home, too. And now my closest to home include some I have hidden.
