The application for Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City Public Schools was released on Monday this week. The application is available in MS Word format. The deadline is January 23, 2015, which is just a two week application window. ClassenSAS is a grade 6-12 public school in OKCPS, and requires all students to declare a major upon entry. Students residing within the OKCPS boundaries are given priority for admission. All ClassenSAS students are either IB (International Baccalaureate) or VPA (Visual and Performing Arts) majors. ClassenSAS is the only IB program in the state of Oklahoma. Two of our three children currently attend ClassenSAS, one as an IB major and another as a drama major. According to this year’s application:

This application is to be completed by incoming sixth grade applicants who are currently enrolled or residing within the OKCPS district and current CSAS students who wish to change majors. Other applicants, grades 7-10, may complete this application but will be considered only on “specific program need” basis for the 2015-2016 school year and must be able to fulfill program requirements.

If you are a parent of a child applying to ClassenSAS I encourage you to join the PTSA Facebook Group as well as sign up for the news blast. ClassenSAS is a fantastic school and IMHO provides the best public education opportunities in our state. If you have questions about ClassenSAS that I could possibly answer as a parent, please contact me via Twitter (@wfryer) or via other means.
