Podcast366: Interviews with Navy WWII Ace Ed Wendorf and Docents Aboard the USS Midway

This podcast is a series of recordings from our family’s tour aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, California, on March 17, 2010. The first part is an interview with World War II Navy Ace Ed Wendorf, who scored eight kills in the Pacific theater as a Hellcat pilot. Ed holds the distinction of being the only US Navy pilot in history to make a one eyed, one handed, no hook, no flap, no brake landing on an aircraft carrier. Three weeks later Ed was out of the hospital, back in the cockpit fighting the Japanese in the Pacific skies again. After the interview with Ed, this recording includes several recordings of docents aboard the USS Midway sharing information about the ship and the men who served aboard her. Many thanks to Ed for granting permission for this interview to be recorded and shared. Please take time to thank the military veterans you know and meet, past and present, who have sacrificed so much for our nation.
