Learning Communities

Our interconnected, digital world offers multiple opportunities for educators at all levels to “plug in” and remain connected with each other in ways which were unthinkable before the 21st century and the advent of web 2.0 technologies as well as faster Internet connections. Consider joining the following learning communities to plug-in and STAY plugged-in with other educators who are constantly looking for new ways to help students learn and make opportunities for learning more effective as well as authentically engaging.

  1. The K-12 Online Conference Ning
  2. Classroom 2.0
  3. Women of Web 2.0
  4. NECC 2008 Ning
  5. Learning Communities specifically focused on digital collaborative projects:
    1. ePals
    2. CILC (Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration)
    3. Global SchoolNet
  6. Think.com – for students (requires educators to register a classroom, school or district)

Open content professional development is available as well, from these and other sources:

  1. The K-12 Online Conference
  2. Classroom 2.0 LIVE Conversations (Steve Hargedon)
  3. Open PD (Darren Draper)
  4. CyberCamp (Bud Hunt)

Is Classroom 2.0 suffering from style issues, or is it me?

… its just me. Classroom20 is not blocked from work, but the style does not work??

If the stylesheets for a Ning site like Classroom 2.0 are not available, along with photo and video content, it may be that the http://api.ning.com domain is blocked on your organizational content filter. See This Nov 11th post and the accompanying PDF link for more info about unblocking a custom domain for a Ning site like Classroom 2.0.

I find SchoolForge ( http://www.schoolforge.net/ ) a very good resource for educational topics and software.
