Next major discovery this afternoon and evening was how to create webpages with layers using Dreamweaver. I have wanted to do this for many months but have not found the time. It took several hours, but I am pleased with the results. I will have to further test with different browsers on different platforms, but so far so good. My first attempt was reformatting my existing “One to One Technology Immersion Research” webpage.
My second effort was a reformatted homepage (www.wesfryer.com) using layers. This is the type of page I have wanted to create for some time, but since I did not know how to use layers (including javascript behaviors), I could not make it before.
For grins I have kept older versions of my personal homepage online, to compare the evolution in my own web design ideas and skills. The following are still available (although not linked anywhere except here, as far as I know):
– November 2003 homepage (basic with large banner image links, but pretty busy)
– April 2004 homepage (this was supposed to look like the cockpit of a spaceship orbiting earth)
– December 2004 homepage (simple text links, but still too busy)
– January 2005 homepage (current iteration, using layers and javascript behaviors included in Dreamweaver MX 2004)
If you have comments or suggestions for me please leave them here! 🙂
