Moving at the Speed of Creativity by Wesley Fryer

Webposting photos from 9000+ feet!

Had a great experience today, climbing Eagle’s Peak (the most prominent mountain just west of the Air Force Academy) with lots of speech/debate team buds here for a mini-reunion. It was cool to take some pics with my cell phone from the summit and immediately web-post them to my flickr account!

It is so great to be back in Colorado, even if it is just for a short while. I love west Texas, but the beauty and grandeur of the Rockies is breathtaking to experience. (Especially when you’re hiking up one of the mountains and are acclimated to sea level!)

The weather today couldn’t have been more cooperative. Early in the morning we had rain and the entire front range was shrouded in clouds– the cloud level started to rise, and by the time we had set off on the hike the rain had stopped and we were starting to see the tops of mountains. Other climbers descending while we were going up reported the summit still in clouds, but by the time we got there the cloud level had raised further and we had breathtaking views!

I had climbed Eagle’s Peak at least 2 other times, but while a cadet at USAFA. We saw tons of cadets on the trail, mostly 4 degrees (freshmen) who were enjoying their first “free” weekend after basic training. I am sore now and know it will be worse tomorrow, but it was worth it! 🙂
