Podcasting as Disruptive Transmediation
Thanks to the thoughtful feedback of a few other educators, I made several changes and edits to my presentation for tomorrow, “Podcasting as Disruptive Transmediation.” More images, and the theme of “literacy quest” were the main additions. Podcast on open source, thin clients in Education
David Warlick has a good podcast on the use of open source operating systems in schools that he posted today. Educators and parents need to be studying and learning more about Linux and other open source solutions. Where functionality and reliability are comparable with an open source alternative to commercial software or hardware, it is…

This revolution is personalized
We are in the midst of a Web 2.0 revolution. It was great fun to welcome 24 teachers in Miami, Texas (town population about 600, student school population about 118) today to the revolution. I did not major in science in college– but some of my favorite courses in high school were Engineering Physics, Atmosphere & Space Science,…

Sweet victory over the Cornhuskers
Ah, the day is always sweet when the Cornhuskers lose a football game. Last year, it was a 60 point loss to the Red Raiders of Texas Tech, their worst ever in school history. This year, it was their first homecoming loss since 1968. Sweet. Growing up watching Nebraska roll over Kansas State every year…

RSS Visualizer
This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger includes a new screensaver called “RSS Visualizer.” After you have added an RSS feed in Safari, you can select this screensaver in system preferences and under options choose a desired RSS feed. Then whenever your screen saver comes…
