Moving at the Speed of Creativity by Wesley Fryer

Everyone can serve

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day where I live in West Texas. Visit the official website of the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia to hear a rousing audio clip of Dr. King preaching about what it takes to be great, to lead, to be recognized, and to SERVE: a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.

I love King’s observation that “you don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve,” along with the feedback he received from his audience who was listening to his powerful message! Turns out (after inspecting the home page’s source code) that the audio clip is actually an embedded flash file. This comes from a speech by Dr. King entitled “The Drum Major Instinct.”

I am sharing a workshop I’m calling “The Case for Digital Storytelling in the Classroom” with K-12 teachers in Miami, Texas tomorrow. For our digital stories, we’ll be focusing on the civil rights movement and the life of Dr. King. If you have any suggestions or feedback on the workshop curriculum I have online so far, please let me know! We start at 9 am (central) tomorrow!
