Casper by JAMF software is a Macintosh-based computer inventory management solution that can provide network administrators with powerful imaging and remote updating abilities. I have not tried Casper before, but heard favorable reviews from other educators about it today. Apple has a variety of other desktop management solutions (including third party products like Casper) linked on their Server Solutions / Desktop Management page.
