Podcast104: Ideas for Classroom Podcasting

This podcast features ideas generated by teachers in Edmond Public Schools (Oklahoma) and Rockwall ISD (Texas) about using podcasting with students in the classroom. We created this podcast together during a workshop conducted over a videoconference on December 8, 2006. This podcast was created entirely in Audacity running in WindowsXP through Parallels on a MacBook laptop.

I have been part of several educational podcasts for about 1 year now. We have created a podcasting directory at our school. Our teachers complete word document templates and send me their mp3s. I have one rss feed for the district and complete the feed from the templates. In our first year we have had several teachers podcast. The content areas included in the podcasting are foreign language, english, technology, math, agriculture, and some idependent groups. I believe you have to prove to the teachers that learning something new will benefit the students and make the activity as simple as possible. That is why I have created the directory. A few of my colleagues and I also have created a podcast for teacher in-service on demand. It is about technology integration. Our show is called TechPodZone. http://www.techpodzone.com I also produce a weekly show called Hall Pass that provides resources for teachers who want to podcast in the classroom. http://www.podcasternews.com
