Thanks to Sue Waters last night for tweeting about a new Twitter hack which resulted in some users’ accounts being compromised and sending out unauthorized Tweets. Russel Montgomery provided links via Twitter to Pete Cashmore’s post on Mashable, “How StalkDaily Opened a Gaping Hole in Twitter.” It now includes the following update:
Minutes ago, Twitter confirmed that they have successfully closed the hole that allowed this worm to spread. You’re safe to visit Twitter profiles again The below still stands as the most complete explanation of how the attack was conducted: please do give it a read!
Yet another case of Twitter’s utility as a communications platform.
