We must insist our political leaders in the US stop deficit spending NOW. This must happen immediately, and we must get on a debt payoff plan as a nation NOW. If we do not and we persist on our path of ever deepening indebtedness, the consequences will inevitably be catastrophic for our nation. We must insist on this change in government policy immediately as voters and citizens. A big problem we face today is complacency. People are not upset enough about how our political leaders on both sides of the aisle have brought our nation to the precipice of bankruptcy.

The political movement we need immediately is not about left and right, or Republican and Democrat. It is about dramatically changing the financial course of our nation. A critical part of this course re-correction is slashing the vast sums of money we are spending daily on our military. The worst fears of President Eisenhower about the military-industrial complex have been realized. Only a populist movement fueled by the righteous indignation of the people has a hope of turning this tide of corporate lust for public dollars.
We must stop allowing any spending, military or otherwise, to be done “off budget.” This practice serves to confuse the public and hide financial realities. Our elected officials must stop spending money we do not have. This is personal finance 101.
We must close tax loopholes exploited by Fortune 500 companies and other corporations to avoid their reasonable tax burdens. We are a wealthy nation but we have allowed our business leaders to corrupt our politicians, our tax code, and our economic system in ways which cannot be tolerated.
We must change our economic course now, as a nation. Corporations cannot and will not save us from this crisis, for their inherent greed as well as dishonesty have led us to this point. Our elected officials already bought and paid for by those corporate interests will not voluntarily act to save us without coercion, for they have sold their souls to the lobbyists.
A popular uprising of the people, demanding financial responsibility from our government, is our only hope.
Let those with the courage and vision to lead, lead us, and may we have the wisdom as a people to follow. If we fail to change our course, we shall all fall into the ditch.
“The foreigners living among you will become stronger and stronger, while you become weaker and weaker. They will lend money to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the head, and you will be the tail!”
