Register your opposition to surveillance cards and support our activities by joining CASPIAN. Every additional member we can claim strengthens our position with the media and with the supermarkets. There is no membership fee and you can sign up anonymously if you wish.

While you're there you can also sign up to receive our periodic newsletter. And if you have some spare time, we can also use all the volunteers we can get.

CLEAN UP YOUR OWN ACT FIRST

  • Cut up your supermarket card
  • Find a store that does not monitor shoppers. Shop there even if it adds to your driving time.
  • Be consistent and courageous about your decision

BE INFORMED

  • Read the FAQ or make your own. Be prepared to respond to people when they ask common questions
  • Read the News section, know how the world is changing
  • Sign up for the CASPIAN e-mail newsletter

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE

  • Write an E-mail (of praise or complaint to let companies and individuals know how you feel)
  • Write a letter (to local and corporate store management, to newspaper editors)
  • Write an article
  • Discuss the issue in your organization or company newsletter

INFORM OTHERS

  • Link to CASPIAN from your site
  • Invite friends and family members to visit this website
  • Invite a corporate type to visit this website
  • Give a talk
  • Print up and distribute flyers at local markets
  • Teach your children the importance of privacy

CONTRIBUTE TIME OR RESOURCES

  • Provide a service from your company (printing flyers, bumper stickers, letterhead, envelopes, advertisement, legal advice, web hosting, etc.)
  • Buy CASPIAN a banner ad on a high-traffic website
  • Research grocery store information for the CASPIAN database (track down the names and contact info of industry decision makers, get addresses for supermarket management, determine status of monitoring programs around the country)
  • Are you an artist? Collect all those cut-up club cards and make a protest artwork. Mail me a picture and I'll feature it on the site.

PROTEST!

  • Start a local CASPIAN chapter
  • Organize a protest - print and distribute fliers
  • Get your group (political, social, religious) involved in the effort
  • Picket "trial" monitoring programs at your local markets

THINK!

  • Think twice before signing up for any program which requires that you sacrifice your privacy, freedom, or self-respect in exchange for convenience, "rewards," or so-called "savings."
  • Being registered, numbered, catalogued, and watched is inevitably going to backfire on all of us someday. Prevent it from happening to you by refusing to participate.
