I was very enthused to learn today that Trillian Pro supports multi-client desktop videoconferencing for Windows-based computer systems. This means that someone running a Windows-based computer and Trillian Pro can videoconference with Macintosh users running iChat AV, as well as other Windows users running AIM, Yahoo IM and MSN Videoconference (but not “MSN Webcam.”) I have not tested this yet but plan to do so soon. Along with the recent
development that Skype now supports cross-platform videoconferencing, this news bodes extremely well for classroom videoconferencing project possibilities. 🙂
Do you have a recommendation for a Windows-compatible webcam? I am likely going to purchase the cheapest webcam I can at Wal-Mart for $30, since I mainly want to test and share about the “doability” of desktop videoconferencing for classroom teachers, but I could possibly be convinced to buy something else if its functionality and especially form factor is considerably better. This one looks pretty cool, especially for $30!
