International and domestic US travel / contact maps

I reviewed my Flickr profile page this evening and noticed I hadn’t updated my “Visited Countries” map since making the trek to Shanghai in September. I went ahead and added Japan as well, but (like Australia) I don’t really think a mere visit to the airport should qualify as a “visit.”

I was glad to learn the author has also created a “Visited States” map tool for creating a map of states in the U.S. you have visited. This is mine:

or check out these Google Hacks.

These are free web-based map tools and might be neat to use with a classroom as well, especially if you are corresponding via email, blogs, videoconferencing, or other technologies with students and others in different countries! If you are using (or end up using) either of these tools for classroom communications documentation, please let me know! 🙂

If you are interested in this sort of thing and using a classroom website, be sure to add a free ClustrMap to your classroom wiki, blog, or other website as well! I love mine! 🙂
