Bob Sprankle’s 3rd and 4th grade students in Room208 (Wells, Maine) have posted an excellent vodcast (video-podcast) about how they make their classroom podcasts. It is about 5 minutes long. (Check out their podcast channel feed for additional podcasts.)
Last week, I viewed this with teachers and school administrators in the El Paso area and they brainstormed the following things they noticed about the students and their learning shown in the video:
brainstorming
engaging
expressive
higher order learning
taking ownership of the process
student initiative
teacher as facilitator
very interactive
lots of conversations
very articulate
learning technical knowledge was seamless
technology was not the point
empowering
problem solving
collaborating
working as a team
very proud of the work
organizing themselves
conflict resolution
critical thinking skills
experience in public speaking
this was not faked!
Great job Room 208 scholars!
