Wikispaces is:
a place where you can easily build web pages with other people. Signing up and creating your own wiki space is fast, free, and easy.
I have just used jot.com and the wiki options in Moodle up to this point when building my own wikis, besides a brief foray with MoinX (very positive incidentally) and incomplete testing with MediaWiki.
I am teaching another workshop for educators in Miami, Texas next week, and Wikispaces looks like a better option than jot.com for helping teachers learn how to use and leverage wikis with class projects.
If anyone else has a suggestion along this line or an experience to share, I would love to hear it. Thanks to Dean Shareski for sharing about his experiences with Wikispaces.
Note: As of 1 Oct 2026, this is a FULL STATIC COPY of all 6,390 posts shared on this blog since 2003. Updated content and ideas from Wes Fryer are still available!

I helped East Lothian Council set up their Wikispaces page to help the core of 15 team members and the wider edupublic define an ICT Strategy for the next 3 years. It works well and is providing a useful collaboration space: http://elcict.wikispaces.com/
Glad to hear you’re liking Wikispaces Wesley. We’ve very interested in helping teachers and educators make use of this kind of technology so don’t hesitate to get in touch with questions, suggestions, or requests.
I was writing on our blog just yesterday about a great example of a teacher making use of Wikispaces in her classroom. You may want to check it out: http://blog.wikispaces.com/2006/01/decembers-space-of-month.html
