Writely, a web 2.0 word processor, has been purchased by Google. That will come as good news to some, who have wondered if a popular web service like Writely will last long-term because of bandwidth requirements brought on by a large user-base.
Writely is one of many read/write web tools I’ll be introducing participants to next week at SITE in my “Welcome to Web 2.0” workshop. I’ll be updating my workshop curriculum quite a bit in the coming week, and will post a link to the new version here when it is available.
Once Writely has been moved over to Google servers, they will again be accepting new registrants.
Note: As of 1 Oct 2026, this is a FULL STATIC COPY of all 6,390 posts shared on this blog since 2003. Updated content and ideas from Wes Fryer are still available!
