Free, online international professional development for educators? K-12 Online at the end of the month is just one of our opportunities for exciting PD empowered by web 2.0 this month– another that begins October 7 and 8, 2006 is Global Learn Day. Now in its 10th year, Global Learn Day will feature an impressive lineup of speakers including the following (topics in parentheses):

Sir John Daniel, President, Commonwealth of Learning
Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist, Google (Lessons from the Thrilla in Manila)
Lynda Dyer, President, Mind Power Global, speaking from New Zealand (The Power of the Mind)
Vishen M. Lakhiani (Web 2.0 and it’s Impact on Education)
Dr. T. V. Raman (Equal Access To Information Raises All Boats)
Vance Stevens (English language instructors — the most important teachers in the world?)

Many more speakers will be featured, refer to this page on the conference blog for a complete list. The conference begins at 0:00 GMT on Sunday, October 8th. For me in US Central time, that is 7 pm Saturday, October 7th. To find out what the start time is for your time zone, refer to this time and date.com page.

Learn more on the Global Learn Day homepage and blog. Participants can listen by using the Windows Media streaming file URL that will be posted to the conference website, dialing in via Skype or regular phone to the conference telephone room, and text chatting via TappedIn. All the options are detailed on this blog post.

Sounds like a GREAT learning opportunity, and the price is right! I hope to join in too as a participant! 🙂
