ISM (Independent Student Media) is now offering an innovative online film curriculum focused on bringing the expertise of Hollywood professionals into the classroom to assist students in the process and procedures of digital storytelling. The curriculum is geared toward secondary students, and is software-independent: It is focused on the process of filmmaking rather than the “point and click” procedures of particular video editing software applications. Teachers as well as students working on digital storytelling projects often NEED this type of curriculum, which includes online tools for planning, storyboarding, producing and editing finished films. This podcast is a recording an interview I had with Erin Christensen of ISM on August 29, 2007, at the EncycloMedia Conference in Oklahoma City. If your students and teachers want to be serious about producing high-quality digital stories, ISM’s curriculum is definitely worth checking out!
