The creative folks at Google have added (though I’m not sure how long ago) yet another free service you may want to utilize: Google Calendars. The ability to import events from other calendars, including MS Outlook, looks interesting and worth trying. Google Calendar gives you different options for sharing your calendar as well, with just certain individuals or the entire world.
Several questions, but one clear one is: How is Google going to use calendar information I supply? Well, that is not immediately apparent on the Google Calendar Privacy page, but it appears they ARE going to use it. I assume they will be showing you customized ads as you use the Google Calendar site in hopes you’ll click on them. Google’s use of your information on the calendar is governed by their overall corporate privacy policy, which is pretty extensive.

One response to “Google Calendar”
[…] Wes Fryer pointed this out and I agree – do I really want my calendar info out there for all to see? Personally I don’t think it will be that big a deal. The real catch for me is that I can’t make a change on my phone or my Palm and have it reflected on gCal. When that happens, gCal may replace my trusty iCal, but until then, I can’t (even with the slight amount that I am busy) afford to make my calendar updates only online. Even my wife is the same way, she is looking at getting a PDA, but I suggested that she use her phone as it’s always there and she doesn’t really need to be tied to a computer to manage the information that she’s dealing with.
