We had a fun workshop yesterday in Gadsden, Alabama, and the technology support team for the district was WONDERFUL in unblocking all the websites we needed to use to learn about digital audio recording and sharing, as well as educational apps for the iPod Touch and subscribing to free educational podcasts in the iTunes Store.
During the workshop, I sent out a “call for help” tweet which was fielded by Chicago-based Twitter user aschmitz, a “First year student at UIUC, programmer/hacker (good kind!) who wants to make the world better. Really.” Sounds like aschmitz may be a white hat!
The websites aschmitz told us to unblock (along with the actual SlideShare website) were:
- public.slidesharecdn.com
- static.slidesharecdn.com
- cdn.slidesharecdn.com
- slideshare.s3.amazonaws.com
- slideshare.net
These instructions worked like a charm and we were able to directly access as well as embed SlideShare content on wiki pages we used for the workshop.
What a great example of just-in-time tech support from my personal learning network. Thanks aschmitz!

I wish I could see the flicker images you post using a similar process.
Yes, I wish Flickr was unblocked in all our schools as well. In this case, the embedded image just shows the Tweet that included the web addresses to unblock for slideshare.
